Cards with birds

Here are two cards and a tag I made for Scrapper.dk using Echo Park's lovely Sweet Day collection. The birds are from Spellbinders. Cards are just so much faster for me to create at the moment, as I I've been home with two boys since June 1. The eldest at 6yrs helps with die cutting and glueing things on the projects. So much fun!

I created some cards using new stamps in the scrapper.dk-shop. The white flowers are heat embossed and I think they look so cool on the colored cards. Challenged myself to use Prima flowers and bling :-)

Panduro Hobby has a summer-theme this week and a challenge to be inspired by summer. I did this layout for the challenge. Photos are old ones from 2010. Last summer the weather was so bad all summer that we didn't go to the beach , but I sure hope to go this week and get new photos.

Strip it challenge (Hard Core Crop #5) - Rainbow mobile

And finally my last Core' challenge participation - the Strip it challenge. So happy the kids were sleeping tight last night. I am a bit tored today, but it was fun cropping till after midnight. It's been awhile!!

Strips made me think of rainbows. My first strips were used for a rainbow on a layout for another challenge, because I recalled a kids project I had seen a while back with a rainbow mobile with cardstock strips and cottonballs 'n all! Figured I would try to create such a mobile for my baby boy.

And details of the mobile:

Here is sort of an how-to in pictures. My strips were 0.5":

And finish off with clouds and raindrops on twine (forgot to take pics).

And finally a card I did for a mini challenge to get inspired by another challenge entry. I was inspired by Beth Ullman's colorful layout.

Scoring Challenge (Hard Core Crop #13)

This is my entry for a scoring challenge using Core'dinations cardstock. I did a really bad job at creating a nice, even pattern with my scoreboard, so the black cardstock has been sitting on my desk for a few days because my original idea didn't seem to work.

As I was looking thru my stack of photos I found this one of my pregnant belly and got a new idea for the scored cardstock. So here it is:

The title "Een dag tilbage" (one day left) refers to the photo being taken the day before Melvin was born and inspired by a Danish song by Nik&Jay!

Thanks for looking!

Handmade embellishment (Hard Core Crop #6)

So I finished another challenge from the Core'dinations blog last night. Yeah! The challenge was to create your own handmade embellishment with Core' cardstock. I cut out two feathers inspired by/liftet from these on Pinterest. Loove how the big feather looks with the sanded whitewash cardstock!

OK, this one is me totally playing... guess I got really inspired this weekend to try something new!

I LOVE this photo of my beloved grandma and my eldest son. They turned 100 years end of June - that is if you add her 94 years to his 6 years!

I also created this quick card for a mini challenge to use an outlining technique. The card is a little too bare, but I saw the challenge 20 minutes before deadline, so I had no time to embellish nicely. For this technique I sanded on top of a chipboard cloud. This was actually my third try and it still looks pretty non-outlined...so I outlined the shape with a pen! The only sanding paper I have been able to find was grain80, which is not fine at all. Worked fine with my other projects, but not this one. Seemed to destroy my cardstock with this technique, or maybe it's just me :-) Anyway it was fun to try something new...again!

Technique challenge (Hard Core Crop #3)

I finished another Core'dinations challenge. Yeah, for finishing 4 of them! This challenge is to use an antiquing technique.

This layout started out for a strip it challenge, but I came up with a better idea for using strips, so I converted my rainbow strips to this technique-challenge by antiquing them. This was totally an experiment outside my comfort zone, but I love how the layout turned out. So children-artsy-cute! But most importantly I had sooo much fun just playing with cardstock!

And here are a few detail shots. I was inspired by another challenge to score my paper. I used old Quickutz alphas to cut the letters and sanded them after I glued them to the background paper.

This was also my first layout using my all mine favorite photo of my two boys. I predict using it on more layouts....

Had my 6-years old help me with this mess (such a nice change from always having to pay attention not to wrinkle mommy's nice papers. hi hi). He diecut the clouds and letter too:

Thanks for looking! Have a great weekend.

Die cut challenge (Hard Core Crop #7)

I managed to finish a third challenge last night from the challenges posted on the Core'dinations blog. A challenge to use Core'dination cardstock with die cuts. Having so much fun with this...

I cleaned the dust off an old Quickutz leaves-die and a newer Papertrey ink flower-die and made this card. Used a Studio Calico stamp and their fun wood veneer woman to add a femine touch to the masculine colors.

I also did a color challenge (click here to see) and a trendy challenge (click here to see)

Trends Challenge (Hard Core Crop #2)

I did another challenge from the Core'dinations Hard Core Crop. A challenge from my fabulous and talented friend Kim Jeffress. The challenge is to be inspired by the trends right now. Absolutely love the Cosmo Cricket Core' cardstock I used. It's just perfect for school-related projects!

I created this layout for the challenge featuring my son, who will start school in a few weeks. I was inspired to use these trends: woodveneer, Smash-items, stamps, chevron, datestamp and banners.

I also did a color challenge and a die cut challenge. Click the links to see.

Thanks for stopping by!

Color challenge (Hard Core Crop #8)

I have deadlines coming up for projects really soon, but for the past two weeks I have gotten into a true vacation mode of just having fun and relaxing with my family. Nothing wrong with that, but now I need to get into the creative spirit again, and what better way to get the creative juices flowing than to challenge yourself? Always works for me, so when I was invited to join the Hard Core Crop I knew that was what I needed...

The first challenge I have finished is a color challenge and I created this card:

The challenge was to use these colors:

I used these perfectly matching Core'dinations papers:

I was inspired by another hard core challenge to create handmade embellishments and made the flowers and leaves on the card. I cut out two types of flowers. One is just a layer of circles with a fabric brad and the other one is those cute rolled flowers.

I finished a few more challenges (click to see my projects): die-cut challenge and trends challenge.
